Construction of the firebox is complete.  Once the flue is lined this will be a working fireplace.  It is ready for the builder to add the finishing touches.  The facade will be the final addition to this project.  To see other stages of this project http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/firebox-construction-part-3

Firebox construction

September 1, 2010

This is the start of a firebox reconstruction project in Boston.  Dana had the luxury of starting anew in a gutted condo unit.  It doesn't look like much in this picture... it gets better, much better.  Check back for follow up photos.  For other completed fireplace projects http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/album.php?aid=27776&id=130661380277547&ref=mf

Accolade

August 24, 2010

The following was emailed to us on 8/17, after Dana did an inspection for an antique stove located on Beacon Hill in Boston.  This is from the architect, Juan Guillermo Uribe Rubio with Pauli & Uribe Architects, with whom Dana met;

"We had the pleasure of meeting Dana Storrs.  If you ever need someone to look at a stove, DS is your person.  He is incredibly polite and very knowledgeable".

Belmont stainless steel liner new construction

August 16, 2010

If you look closely, you can see Dana standing atop the chimney.  At this job in Belmont he had to remove the existing liner (it wasn't the correct material for the appliance venting into it) & had to install the correct liner for the appliance.  I don't want to know how he got up there... to see another liner job http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/liner-custom-copper-raincaps-in-boston

Custom Copper Raincaps in Boston

August 11, 2010

This is one of the copper raincaps we installed in Boston's South End.  We did not have time to take pictures of the lining aspect of this job.  Dana & Bruce spent over 10 hours removing the old deteriorated liner & installing the new one.  The only masonry part of this job is the new crown to which the cap is adhered.  To see the liner prior to installation http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/liner-custom-copper-raincaps-in-boston
